Service of Process (Get In the Circle)

This video made by the National Center for State Courts explains "service of process." In any lawsuit, the person beginning the law suit has to give 'notice' to everyone who should be involved in the law suit.  
Each county may have a preference or differences, so talk to a lawyer about your specific case.
